Since 1989, the California Rules of Professional Conduct have included prohibitions against discriminatory behavior in the practice of law. In 2025, the value of anti-discrimination and bias reduction work are under renewed scrutiny.
Our panelists will discuss the current landscape of bias identification and reduction in the legal profession; how they have shaped their legal careers to make the legal profession, and society at large, more equitable; and how pursuing values-based work can be an advantage in your legal career.
This panel will be tailored to members of the Bar Association of San Francisco’s Barristers Club (attorneys in their first ten years of practice), though all are welcome to attend.
Topics- Learn about the California State Bar’s definition of implicit bias and how reduction of bias initiatives serve the legal community in 2025
- Identify and address common inequities within the litigation field experience by practitioners and clients
- Learn how to integrate values-based/bias reduction work into a legal career
- How to develop a sense of belonging within the legal community
