Topics will include:
• This program aims to de-stigmatize mental illness and disabilities, and encourage attorneys to take on clients they might otherwise avoid by providing them concrete tools to facilitate the attorney-client relationship
• The course will describe the symptoms, and functional difficulties relevant to legal practice, which underlie mental disorders including depression, anxiety conditions, bipolar disorder, cognitive disorders, and other non-psychotic mental conditions.
• This course will provide concrete strategies to mitigate difficulties sometimes encountered in individuals suffering from mental disabilities including non-responsiveness, unclear communication, poor memory and concentration, and erratic decision making.
