Vapor intrusion is a common and complex environmental problem for cleanup of contaminated properties. It occurs when vapor-forming chemicals migrate from soil or groundwater into the indoor air of a building. Although VI investigations have been performed for decades, the science and technology that inform our understanding of this issue are still evolving and subject to debate among experts. The program will address current state regulatory agencies' approaches to VI.
Topics• Vapor intrusion (VI) basics
• Evolving scientific and regulatory approaches to evaluation of VI
• Implications for site cleanups and long-term site managements
